A few things to note:
1. Chafee's numbers are growing slowly, but steadily. This new Rasmussen poll shows him gaining 4-6% over the month, pulling ahead of Caprio by 10 points, and pulling ahead of Lynch by 14 points.
2. The Undecideds are a shrinking group, although are still large enough to move the election in one way or another depending on where they fall (and depending on the additional candidates).
3. Lynch's polling numbers bounced back from the late January numbers.
4. Caprio's polling numbers have steadily fallen over the past month or so.
5. Robitaille saw the largest increase in support and is making great inroads into the conservative independents in the state (the percentage of registered Republican voters is about 10.5%). This also may explain why Caprio is seeing his numbers fall.
6. The Brown University polling numbers with Lynch seem to be out of place compared to the other two and may be an outlier.
7. With another Republican in the race, Victor Moffitt, Republican and Democratic primary battles will likely improve Chafee's chances of winning.
8. The absence of the Moderate Party candidate, Ken Block, and the other Independent candidate, Todd Giroux, gives an inaccurate depiction of the possible Election Day results.

In short order the Rhode Island Republican Party touted the poll as a yardstick of what's to come in November.
According to a new Rasmussen poll just released today, John Robitaille, the Republican candidate for Governor of Rhode Island, is now just two percentage points behind Patrick Lynch and just 8 percentage points behind Frank Caprio. While it is still too early to gauge the outcome of the race, this poll certainly proves that Robitaille is gaining name recognition after only one month of campaigning.
"While the race for governor is a marathon and not a sprint, this poll certainly shows the momentum we have achieved in just a short few weeks" said Robitaille. "The voters are beginning to realize that our campaign offers new hope for Rhode Island while the other candidates offer only more of the same." Robitaille has never held elected office, while Caprio, Lynch and Chaffee are all current or former elected officials.
"I believe the citizens of Rhode Island are looking for new leadership" said Robitaille. "As a veteran, small business owner and someone who has been engaged in the community, I have a unique perspective on our current challenges and a real-world understanding of what we need to do to get Rhode Island back on the right track."
Adding more positive momentum to the Robitaille campaign, within the past 24 hours, both the Portsmouth and Bristol Republican Town Committees endorsed John Robitaille for Governor. Both votes were unanimous. "I am extremely pleased to receive the unanimous endorsements from the town committees" said Robitaille. "I will be seeking more endorsements as I meet with each of the city and town committees going forward."
